Sara Granda, a parishioner and heroine who persists and serves even though she is paralyzed, has requested that St. Vincent dePaul submit the following request for inclusion in the church bulletin. We will also send this to our members.
Fellow Parishioners,
Sara Granda, a long time parishioner of St. James has need for periodic assistance. Despite being paralyzed from the neck down in 1997, she went to UCD Law School, graduated, passed the Bar, and works full-time as an Attorney in State Government in Sacramento. She is on a ventilator full-time and receives near full time assistance from trained medical personnel. However, there are one or two 12 hour gaps in coverage each week and she would like to hire someone or some persons to assist her with routine needs, preferring to pay compassionate parishioner/s rather than hiring through a service. Special training or a license is not required, but the person/s would be instructed in some tasks, such as turning her every two hours, some light meal preparation, and how to check and adjust her ventilator tubing. Of course, if a willing parishioner has medical training or a license, that would be desirable.
