LITURGY OF THE HOURS Evening Prayer at St. James the Less The fullness of divine worship contained in the eucharistic sacrifice of the mass overflows to all the hours of daily life most prominently in the Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Office). This ancient prayer tradition uses a four-week cycle prayed in communion with the global Church. Exceptions to the cycle include saints’ days and holydays recognized in the community. Christ prayed the psalms to the Father so in our liturgy of the hours, we pray the psalms to echo the voice of Christ within us. Liturgy of the Hours, especially Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer clearly express and effectively strengthen the sublime truth, embodied in the Christian life. The spiritual life at St. James the Less Parish is much blessed. Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with Confession on Thursdays has seen broad participation. The celebration of Evening Prayer for about 20 minutes during the time of Exposition contributes another dimension to spirituality of the evening. Starting Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. and continuing each Thursday. Brief instructions will be presented prior to prayer. Worship aids will be available but if you prefer an app from Divine Office, Laudate or iBreviary. Come, visit our Lord and pray in communion with the faithful around the world in the words given us by the Holy Spirit.
